Position located in Paris, France. Anaplan anticipates that this position might relocate to Frankfurt, Germany at a later time.

DESCRIPTION

Anaplan is looking for a talented, energetic, experienced and confident in-house legal counsel with a proven track record of success in negotiating commercial transactions in the cloud industry with the largest enterprises in the world. This role will advise business teams primarily in France and Germany, but in countries throughout Europe and elsewhere with an emphasis on contract drafting, as well as review and negotiation of commercial transactions and partner relationships involving Anaplan’s cloud platform. The ideal candidate would have direct experience acting as a point of contact for enterprise sales teams and making difficult decisions under tight timelines.

This position reports on a day-to-day basis to the Senior Legal Counsel based in the United Kingdom, and ultimately into to the Vice President of Legal based in San Francisco, California.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Anaplan's EMEA (primarily France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland) Sales, Partner and Customer Success organizations in structuring commercial transactions, and drafting and negotiating commercial agreements such as SaaS subscription agreements, order schedules, statements of work, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Advise business teams worldwide on legal compliance, including on data protection and privacy issues (including application of the GDPR and similar country-specific requirements).
  • Partner closely with other cross-functional teams including finance, sales ops, tech ops, procurement other internal teams to provide contracting expertise and sound business advice, and to ensure consistency and compliance in implementing company policies and processes.
  • Advise senior management and business clients on aspects of law in commercial transactions and related matters, including data protection and privacy.
  • Assist in optimizing contract templates, drafting global corporate policies and processes, ensuring regulatory requirements are adhered to and developing training materials on relevant topics such as the contracting process, data privacy and legal compliance in the sales and contracting processes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience, in a Cloud/SaaS software company and/or in a law firm counseling rapid-growth technology/Cloud/SaaS companies.
  • Accredited law degree from a highly regarded school.
  • Qualification in a member country of the European Union with an accredited law degree and a current license.
  • Experience working for a US-based company while in Europe is a plus.
  • Substantive experience with complex, commercial technology transactions.
  • Substantive experience dealing with/collaborating with Sales, Sales Management, Executive team on complex contract negotiations.
  • Fluent written and verbal English, French and German language skills required. Fluency in any other languages a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision, while adapting quickly to a rapidly changing and challenging environment.
  • Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients.
  • Practical yet creative problem-solving approach that emphasizes addressing business needs while protecting Anaplan’s interests.
