Corporate Counsel: APAC

Anaplan is looking for an experienced, talented, energetic and confident in-house legal counsel with a proven track record of success in negotiating commercial transactions in the cloud industry with enterprise customers. This role will advise business teams primarily in Singapore, Australia, India and the Philippines, but also in other countries throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The ideal candidate would have direct experience acting as the primary point of contact for enterprise sales teams in the APAC region and making difficult decisions under tight timelines as the sole attorney in the region. This position reports on a day-to-day basis to the Senior Legal Counsel based in San Francisco, California, and ultimately to the Vice President of Legal also based in San Francisco, California.

Position located in Singapore, and occasional travel is expected.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support Anaplan's APAC (primarily Singapore, Australia, India and the Philippines) Sales, Partner and Customer Success organizations in structuring commercial transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements such as SaaS subscription agreements, order schedules, statements of work, and confidentiality agreements, and assist in responding to customer procurement requirements.
  • Advise senior management and business clients on aspects of law in commercial transactions, including on data protection and privacy issues (including application of country-specific data protection requirements).
  • Advise human resources on a broad range of day to day employment issues and support other internal business functions in another substantive area of law.
  • Partner closely with other cross-functional teams including finance and sales ops to provide contracting expertise and sound business advice, and to ensure consistency and compliance in implementing company policies and processes.
  • Assist in optimizing contract templates, drafting global corporate policies and processes, ensuring regulatory requirements are adhered to.
  • Develop training materials and deliver frequent training on relevant topics such as best practices in negotiations and contracting processes, contracting process, data privacy and legal compliance in the sales and contracting processes.

 

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience, in a Cloud/SaaS software company and/or in a law firm counseling rapid-growth technology/Cloud/SaaS companies.
  • Accredited law degree from a highly regarded school.
  • Qualification in Singapore with an accredited law degree and a current license.
  • Experience working for a US-based company while in APAC is a plus.
  • Substantive experience with complex, commercial technology transactions.
  • Substantive experience dealing with/collaborating with Sales, Sales Management, and Sales Operations teams on complex contract negotiations.
  • Fluent written and verbal English language skills required. Fluency in other languages a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision, while adapting quickly to a rapidly changing and challenging environment.
  • Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients.
  • Ability to explain and enforce company policies and best practices in an effective and client-friendly way.
  • Practical yet creative problem-solving approach that emphasizes addressing business needs while protecting Anaplan’s interests.
