The Director, Marketing Communications is an integral leader in the Corporate Marketing organization to align programs and ensure consistency of message. S/He provides guidance, counsels, and advises a team of content marketers and program managers. And will own the key messages used in powerful content across multimedia channels that positions Anaplan as an innovative industry leader and a pioneer in Connected Planning.

The head of our Marketing Communications team is responsible for acquired, developed and curated content used across line-of-business and industry verticals programs. The ideal candidate will boast expertise in message development and have a track record of identifying the best topics, formats, and promotional techniques that support content-driven marketing programs.

You are a coach-player with experience in cultivating talent and managing internal and external content creators. The ideal candidate understands the demand generation process and the critical partnership between marketing communications and contact acquisition to marketing qualified lead (MQL). This role plays the connector across marketing programs from brand (PR, AR, Social) to demand and events.

We’re looking for someone really special who brings a mix of leadership, creativity, execution discipline, and accountability. This position reports to the VP of Corporate Marketing.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Day to day management of high-performing team responsible for key messages and content programs
  • Content marketing program management
  • Global content lifecycle ownership – from creation to tracking of value and EOL
  • Content KPIs and metrics
  • Ownership and management of editorial calendar with alignment across corporate marketing, demand generation, product marketing and events
  • Ownership of corporate blog program; manage the close integration with other owned and managed content platforms across Community, Partners and 3rd parties
  • Implement, support and evangelize content marketing best practices across the company
  • Influence and shape content marketing evolution based on industry trends, the corporate brand and product value propositions
  • Engage and collaborate cross-functionally (and cross-organizationally), as needed, to support content ideation, creation, activation and performance measurement requirements
  • Manage members, meetings and resource schedules, workflows and deadlines associated with content marketing activities
  • Ensure a close partnership with the Digital marketing team for SEO optimization, and aligned inbound marketing goals and metrics
  • Participate in finding, hiring and managing marketing team members, agencies, consultants or freelancers, including writers, graphic designers, video and interactive content producers, and SEO professionals, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advance degree strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of team management experience
  • 7+ years of experience creating and managing digital content
  • 10+ years of business technology experience, with ample experience in cloud-based software and platforms
  • Experience in data-driven, customer-centric content marketing, content analytics, and optimization
  • Excellent written communication
  • Creative and innovative approach to content and marketing programs
  • Ability to digest and articulate complex concepts for mass consumption via engaging content
  • Experience with WordPress, Marketo, Eloqua, Google Analytics and social media platforms a plus
  • Comfortable managing multiple demands and meeting tight deadlines
  • Experience working at a growing company
  • Self-motivated and can-do attitude
  • An insatiable curiosity and desire to learn how the business succeeds as a whole
