DESCRIPTION

This Director, Product Marketing and Strategy must have collaborative and cross-organizational relationship skills, knowing how to quickly impact the business and deliver quality information and results while balancing multiple priorities. You will build trust and partnership with other marketing professionals as well as colleagues in product management, customer success, field and partners. You will be also interacting with senior management in helping the company decide on product investment areas. Your knowledge of enterprise software market is apparent from 10 years or more in the space serving and leading functions (one or more) such as, product marketing, product management, and product/corporate strategy. Experience in operations or partnership areas will be an added bonus.

The ideal candidate brings a unique combination of business strategy, creativity, excellent communications skill, technical acumen and the ability to describe business applications that solve complex problems in easy to understand collateral, presentations and videos. In this position, you will interact with analysts on one hand and product group and engineers on the other side. You will lead a small team to start with that can grow with the expected business growth. Specific and demonstrable experience in one or more of the following areas will put you on the top of the candidate list: data management, predictive/advanced analytics and modelling, visualizations and data story-telling, big data strategy, machine learning (applications not theory), AI areas such as NLP/NLU, sentiment/text analysis, knowledge representation/graphs/ontology mapping, blockchain technologies.

The position is based in San Francisco, CA.  Anaplan pays competitive salary, bonus, benefits, and equity.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Anaplan next generation platform vision while working with executive management team. Define key build/buy/partner priorities. Articulate competitive differentiation of this platform in the context of evolving market dynamics.
  • Create mid and long-term vision paper on platform. Lead thought leadership and evangelism for the platform by connecting with influencers, press, and analysts and presenting at key industry events.
  • Build and maintain a platform business strategy and focus. Perform analyses including market sizing, addressable opportunity, win/loss analysis, pipeline health, competitive overview, and customer needs
  • Determine key field priorities by engaging with stakeholders from field and pre-sales across all geographies. Provide rapid but thoughtful response to field and market opportunities with positioning and sales materials, competitive intelligence and/or new product or service launches
  • Lead platform product launch themes and coordinate with other GTM functions for all necessary launch activities.
  • Develop buyer personas and positioning for solutions as required
  • Direct and create compelling content (presentations, white papers, blogs etc.) in the context of how enterprise planning supports the business and/or solve business challenges
  • Direct and develop and deliver sales enablement for global field teams
  • Conduct product presentations and demonstrations at events and for customer meetings
  • Work with broader marketing team to support Public Relations, Analyst Relations & Audience Marketing strategies
  • Work with presales to develop demos, product management to build roadmap, and partner teams to develop joint solutions

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required from a competitive institution; prefer academic studies in science, math, computer science, engineering, or marketing management
  • MBA or graduate degree is strongly preferred; could be substituted by demonstrable additional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technology or software company in senior product marketing or outbound product management roles, preferably managing a team; a total of 10 years or more experience required in roles with varying degree of responsibility
  • Flexibility to work in the office (in San Francisco city) for majority of the week; travel expected 25% or less
