Sales Development Director

Anaplan is currently seeking a Director, Sales Development, who will be responsible for leading and growing a team of sales development representatives and their team leaders.

This role is part of the Marketing organization and is important to the business. It includes accountability for building and maintaining repeatable revenue pipeline. It also requires management of a strong talent pipeline, and the ability to recruit, develop, inspire, and promote top talent.

Competencies centering on demand generation, lead qualification, lead generation, prospecting, social selling, inside sales, and leadership are imperative.

Your team must continuously infuse high-quality revenue opportunities into the pipeline and help enable the next phase of growth for Anaplan. A strong ability to drive, collaborate, and manage a wide range of go-to-market plays and initiatives is a must. You will be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and will be passionate about sales development.

You have built, scaled and led a demand generation/inside sales team for a software organization. You’re someone who’s not afraid to roll up your sleeves and be hands on and are equally adept at leading and developing a high-performing team.

The ideal candidate is a proven sales-oriented leader who is creative, innovative, highly energetic and inspired to build, coach and develop a world class organization.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Recruit, manage, develop, and retain a team of highly performing SDRs to deliver and exceed targets
  • Execute currently successful processes and systems while developing new tactics to improve efficiency, leveraging metrics to measure activity and results
  • Deliver Marketing, SDR, and Sales alignment with initiatives and processes that support strong lead management, lead quality, qualification and handoffs
  • Enhance/upgrade the existing demand generation methodology improving team effectiveness in converting early stage leads into active, high quality pipeline that field sales can pursue
  • Develop and deliver training programs to help hit key objectives by leveraging buying personas, call framing, sales nurturing strategies and call cadences
  • Create and deliver regular reviews including overall strategy of the sales development team and measuring the lead indicators towards to end goals
  • Manage, train, and develop high-caliber team leaders, ensuring everyone consistently meets / exceeds their quarterly quota targets
  • Achieve weekly, monthly and quarterly pipeline generation and sales targets
  • Build a team that is focused on high quality interactions with prospects and superior messaging that drives results
  • Develop tight alignment between SDR activities and field sales/marketing to fulfill an integrated sales model
  • Execute a metrics driven process with a strong emphasis on tracking and analytics and ensure accurate and complete information is captured in salesforce.com at all times
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the field sales organization
  • Build and maintain a culture that inspires a sense of urgency, constant innovation & learning, and a strong sense of individual and team accountability
  • Serve as a liaison between sales, and marketing leadership throughout the company
  • Reinforce and drive the sales development SLA’s, and key performance indicators

More about you:

  • 5+ years of B2B solution sales experience (SaaS preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in B2B SaaS solutions sales leadership (Team Lead and/or Manager)
  • 5 - 10 years of experience managing a sales development / inside sales organization in a high-growth company (top of the funnel efforts, inbound lead qualification, outbound lead generation/prospecting)
  • A history of consistently performing above team quota and being able to forecast accurately, set goals and objectives and monitor sales activity
  • Effectively lead teams with right combination of data and strong personal leadership/leadership by example: High integrity, positive, inspirational, self-aware, selfless
  • Strength in working cross functionally, including executive management, field sales, operations, and marketing teams
  • Proven track record for developing effective demand generation programs for a Sales Development organization
  • Focus on quality of messaging and high-quality interactions with prospects
