Site Reliability Engineering Manager

London, UK

At Anaplan, we are looking for a self-motivated SITE RELIABILITY ENGINEERING MANAGER to join our growing TechOps team at our vibrant tech hub in LONDON.

As a Site Reliability Engineering Manager, we know that you’re passionate about seamless uptime. Your team delight in building tools to automate away routine tasks and you’re constantly seeking new ways to improve performance. If you want to join a fast-growing start-up, work with super smart, friendly people, and play with some cool tech, then you’ve found the right place…

Located in a stunning, modern building overlooking the Regent’s Canal, our London office is set in the beautiful WeWork office Kings Place. Large windows, a sunny courtyard, and within walking distance to plenty of great food options, you are set up to not only do great work, but be in an environment that is inspiring. You will join a team of individuals who embrace and respect diverse perspectives, aren’t afraid to push boundaries and try new ideas, and are passionate about helping our customers and each other succeed. We work hard, but we also don’t wait for an excuse to have fun. In fact, we’re so serious about it that it’s one of our core values.

This role is an immediate full-time position. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and tackle unique problems that no one is solving in the tech space yet, keep reading.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Our patented Hyperblock engine is a Java-based, in-memory data processor that delivers outstanding analytical calculation performance. We run on Linux and support our core product with both commercial and open-source technology. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing our growing UK SRE team.
  • Help build and further develop the Global SRE team.
  • Stakeholder management across engineering and product whilst working closely with the leadership team.
  • Helping development teams get their services into production and supporting them once there.
  • Manage the 24/7 production support of our large cloud Platform.
  • Mentor our existing team including 121’s and appraisals.

More About You:

  • You have significant experience of managing production environments (the more war stories the better!)
  • A mastery of configuration management (we use Chef and Ansible)
  • The ability to automate away problems (we generally use Ruby, Python or Bash)
  • A deep understanding of the Linux kernel and the ability to debug difficult problems (we get to learn together when we do this as a team)
  • Exposure to a wide range of applications and services: from load balancers and webservers, to Java apps and messaging systems, to relational and NoSQL databases
  • An appreciation of the fundamentals of networking (“Where did my packet go?!”)
  • Public cloud environments (we’re on AWS and GCP specifically)
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline preferred, and/or extensive relevant commercial experience
  • Excellent leadership & line management skills, and the ability to empower people
  • Comfortable working under pressure and to stringent deadlines
  • Experienced working with global teams
  • Advocate of Agile and best practice

Desirable:

  • If you are happy to travel to offshore sites on a bi-monthly basis.

What We Offer

  • A rewarding, progressive career with a company that values diversity, flexibility and understands the need for a good work/life balance.
  • Market-leading salaries combined with generous bonuses, equity and a range of comprehensive benefits.
  • Regular agile meet-ups, events and hackathons (both attending and hosting!)
  • Flexible working, catered lunches, a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of parties & events
  • A range of sports, health and wellbeing initiatives
  • 3 days of paid leave every year to help support the charity or cause of your choice.
  • The chance to contribute and evolve a company with a valuation over $1.8 billion
  • Huge problems to solve – you will constantly be learning and pushing boundaries, working with some of the smartest people around!
