What You’ll Be Doing:

Our patented Hyperblock engine is a Java-based, in-memory data processor that delivers outstanding analytical calculation performance. We run on Linux and support our core product with both commercial and open-source technology. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing our growing UK SRE team.
  • Help build and further develop the Global SRE team.
  • Stakeholder management across engineering and product whilst working closely with the leadership team.
  • Helping development teams get their services into production and supporting them once there.
  • Manage the 24/7 production support of our large cloud Platform.
  • Mentor our existing team including 121’s and appraisals.


More About You:

  • You have significant experience of managing production environments (the more war stories the better!)
  • A mastery of configuration management (we use Chef and Ansible)
  • The ability to automate away problems (we generally use Ruby, Python or Bash)
  • A deep understanding of the Linux kernel and the ability to debug difficult problems (we get to learn together when we do this as a team)
  • Exposure to a wide range of applications and services: from load balancers and webservers, to Java apps and messaging systems, to relational and NoSQL databases
  • An appreciation of the fundamentals of networking (“Where did my packet go?!”)
  • Public cloud environments (we’re on AWS and GCP specifically)
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline preferred, and/or extensive relevant commercial experience
  • Excellent leadership & line management skills, and the ability to empower people
  • Comfortable working under pressure and to stringent deadlines
  • Experienced working with global teams
  • Advocate of Agile and best practice



  • If you are happy to travel to offshore sites on a bi-monthly basis.
